Keeping in line with my last post on infidelity, I want to address the mess we know as Jon and Kate Gosselin. For those of you who haven't heard, Jon and Kate Gosselin are the recently divorced couple who are parents to eight children. They are stars of the reality television show "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" on TLC.
What I find interesting is that men and women seem do have totally differing opinions on Jon Gosselin. Most women I've talked with detest Jon. They HATE him! Men, on the other hand, seem to understand where Jon is coming from. Keep in mind; this has only been an informal, unscientific poll of my friends and family.
When I asked my husband what he thought of the philandering star, he replied, "Look how his wife treated him for years!" Does her behavior then provoke his behavior, I wonder? Other male friends said that if Kate had taken care of Jon he wouldn’t have strayed. How can you take care of a husband, a television show, and eight children, I wonder? The consensus is that women side with Kate and men side with Jon.
Personally, I feel no sympathy for a man that fathered eight children and yet doesn’t have to work any longer. His so-called hardships are not that hard compared with the rest of America’s troubles. Yes, he has eight kids and is only 32 years old. Yes, he was unhappy in his marriage. But you know what? They were television stars that lived in a million dollar mansion and didn’t have to work outside the home. They could make raising their children their sole business and do very well at it.
I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY.
Get over yourself, Jon Gosselin. You were unhappy. SO WHAT. Millions of people are unhappier than you are. You were the winner of the “Child Lottery”. Not only did you have eight healthy, happy children, but they are children that support you!

Hello Candace, I used to watch this show every week. I even recorded it so I wouldn't miss it. My girls and I watched it so we could see the kids grow, they were so cute! I used to feel sorry for Jon during the regular shows because Kate would talk to him like a dog. She would holler at him to bring her something or help her with the kids, even in public places. I didn't think that was appropriate. I'm surprised she would do that on TV. However I do not by any means agree with the lifestyle that Jon has chosen in recent months. I'm sad that they broke up, especially for the kids sake. I think that Kate is a good mother however I think they maybe should have sought cousenling before they broke up. I think Kate needed to speak a little nicer to Jon and maybe Jon should have stepped up to help Kate a little more. He does seem to be a bit lazy. I just think the whole thing is sad. Like I said I feel bad for the kids, they are so cute to watch. I hate for them to see what is being said about their parents in public. It's one of those things about becoming famous. I mean I know some people can handle it but for some it becomes too much. Like I think Jim Bob and Michelle are doing okay on 19 Kids and Counting. I think they will always be okay, they are too sweet to each other! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHello Candace,
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how the media controls our attitudes and minds about people and places. This is setting a bad example for our younger people that marriage is a joke.
I really think that some reality shows are causing more trouble than many participants probably anticipated. I am sure that Jon and Kate had no idea that it would get so out of hand and give them such celebrity status. It may have been the detrement of their marriage.
